How fast are writes and reads on AetherStore?

AetherStore is a software-based storage solution, so its read and write speeds are determined by the configuration of your hardware and network. In general, CPU and disk speeds tend to bottleneck performance much more so than network speed, so having powerful machines will contribute to faster writes and reads more significantly than having a fast network would.

On a Store consisting mainly of SSDs, we typically see write speeds of around 17 MB/s (1 GB per minute), and read speeds go at an average of 58 MB/s. HDD speeds are a little less consistent and can hover around 4 - 10 MB/s for writes, and 20 - 30 MB/s for reads.
